Kate Farrar, LCSW

Kate obtained her Bachelors degree from Michigan State University with a major in Psychology and a concentration in child development. Kate then went on to earn her Master of Social Work at Loyola University with a concentration in Children and Families. Kate has a wide range of experience including working with refuges upon their arrival in the United States, working with people experiencing homelessness, severe mental illness, and substance use. Kate has worked in many of Chicago’s neighborhoods including, Uptown, Englewood, and Rogers Park. Kate is passionate about the field of social work and providing mental health care to those in need. Kate strives to make each client feel seen, heard, and understood. Kate is excited to be working at Hamdard Health Alliance!

Kate takes a client centered approach. She starts where the client is at and moves at a pace that is comfortable for the client. Kate customizes therapeutic interventions that meet the needs of each individual client. She creates a warm, open, and non-judgmental environment that allows clients to feel safe and comfortable to express themselves and identify areas of possible growth. Kate collaborates with the client throughout the therapeutic relationship to ensure the client’s goals are identified and met.
